Lenny Left the Toaster

As a tribute to Lilli, the poem written at DYWC 2006 by me, her, Sarah, and Betty Lou.

lenny left the mothafuckin’ toaster
or
slide, slide on

she was not wearing shorts and was stupid again -
society conditions couldn’t help thinking so.
now - something was different
as the mind associates understanding, silent as sometimes,
no, you never do know.
wind-guest, word-accessible, hell-raisers - so sorry
slide, slide on.
the tomato sauce children looked to the stir-fried sunlight
but it hurts just as much.
occasional flash, probably a sure thing.
tear thirty seconds into the june
a bowl of life was on fire, the world shining ten miles an hour.
slide, slide on.
six steps into the sky, he was sweet, he was beginning.
he despised religion pinched by spirits sliding away
descended from compressing air.
his body was slashed-slanted, his head almost settled,
the doctor man to the souls chasing dead boys, bury him.
do not go down. you will get over this.
slide, slide on.
